Fall has come, a new Season of Life

     On October 2, 2011 Josh ran in Corinth, Mississippi at the Rotary 5k.  It was a cool fall morning.  The temperature was in the 40's the sun was out and beautiful.

Josh ran with finish time of 21 minutes flat and came in fourth in his age group,  Fifteenth over-all.

       Cool weather is a good time for new recipes.  One night this week we had Babba's Borscht.  It was very good.   A little sour cream on top and it was very tasty and filling.

      In  Sunday School the pastor spoke from Hebrews 11 on those of faith.  Faith is why we live.  The Hope, the Faith of what is to come.

Summer

Praise be to the LORD God for His blessings are eternal!


     Summer is drawing to a close.  Josh's first Cross Country meet will be this afternoon at TCPS.  We have had a good summer just being around home.  Josh got to go to Blue Mountain XC camp and has been doing a review course for Algebra this summer to be ready for Pre-Calculus this fall. He has been a great help around the house and yard doing chores.

Mother's Day 2011

Mother's Day 2011
     After worship service for the LORD this morning David and Josh took me out to eat at a Mexican restaurant by the mall here in Tupelo. We then went down to the Gum Tree Festival to look around.

We listened to the band, The Embrace, Cody Hickman and  two other young men who came from our church and are now in other ministries sang a set of their own songs at the festival.  Cody's mom, 

Melanie( in the white dress in the background) is a good friend.  Cody dedicated and wrote the last song in the set to her.  They have really improved over the last couple of years since we last heard them at the Gum Tree Festival.

                                                 Cody Hickman in the middle.  Melanie homeschooled him and his brother the last years of high school.  His brother Martin, has been to Africa on short term missions, and is now in Nashville in Physical Therapy School( he graduated from Ms. State University), and his wife and him are expecting a child in August.

The Shunamite Woman

     Let's make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him.  Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us. 2 Kings 4:10

     Making room in our lives for the LORD God, humbling ourselves, obeying and we will receive the blessing's just as the Shunamite woman did when she made room  for Elisha, a holy man of God.

I got a surprise!

    A Little Happy!


   David and Josh had gone to the bookstore and to run some errands and said they would be right back.  David called from the bookstore and said they had a surprise for me.  
    When they got home they said because I had been working hard as a Mom and doing so much I deserved a little happy.  Of course, that made me suspicious of what they where up to.
     They presented me with a very-beautifully wrapped gift when they got home.  It was a very nice bracelet with three charms: one was shaped like a Bible, one was a blue bead, and one had a cross/heart/anchor on it.

     What a nice treat from my two men.  I wore it today when I went out.

The Goldfish Pond Mystery

     We have a small goldfish pond in our backyard for the last ten years.  It is about three feet deep so even in the winter time the fish do well.  If the water freezes at the top the fish go to the bottom and just slow down a little.  A few weeks ago after the big snow we got,  I went to see the fish and there were none-not one out of about 12 big goldfish.  I told David and he theorized that we may have a hungry raccoon
in the area who had found a fish dinner.
     It seemed a bit odd, but I let it go at that: kind-of.  Every few days I would ask David what got our beautiful fish and he continued on with his coon theory.
     Then last Saturday morning David had got up before me and opened our bedroom blinds to let some nice sunshine in while I was still trying to wake up. He and Josh were in the breakfast room when they heard me yelling "Look!, there is a big thing out there!"  Of course,  David said, "what are you talking about?"  At that time I pointed out the back window and a large blue-gray crane, who must have sensed all the activity inside, began flying away from the gold fish pond.
      Well, we now know that our crane friend, who has come back since to look for fish, was the culprit.

Milestone

 A milestone of  modern adolescence occurred in our household today. Josh went to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Office in Tupelo and took the written test to get his driving- learner's permit.  We stopped at the Bank to get the forms notarized and then headed to the Driver License Station at the Furniture Market.  There were several other teenagers taking their written test, one young man before Josh didn't pass and was a little disappointed.  Another young man before Josh, also named Josh,  had passed and one could tell he was more excited about passing than the expression on his mom's face which showed she was worried about now having a young man ready to be behind the wheel of a vehicle.  Josh took the test, passed, paid his $4.00 and got his picture taken and now had his permit ready to begin practice driving.  David gets to be the instructor, I'll being praying for them!
